Define the outcome
Set the mounting position, orientation and display mode before the journey. Check that the important labels fit the actual device and that you can read them without leaning or adjusting the phone while moving. A mirrored display is intentionally reversed on the phone; a normal handlebar view is not. Choose the mode for the physical setup rather than for the appearance of a screenshot.
Waymark keeps the driving display focused on distance, speed and location state. The HUD offers a directly readable handlebar mode and a mirrored mode for a suitable reflection setup. The app can keep the screen awake during instrument use, and its burn-in protection can dim and slightly shift the HUD over time. Display options affect presentation, not the underlying trip distance.
Three checks to complete
A random screen tap wakes the display rather than serving as the exit.
- Open HUD
- Find the corner exit target
- Return to the main instrument
Final review
A new user wants to avoid being confused by an immersive screen. This is an illustrative scenario, not measured field-test evidence.
A useful display check includes portrait and landscape, your chosen units and a state where GPS is unavailable. Confirm that you can distinguish an unavailable reading from a measured zero. After using the HUD, leave through its exit control and check that the main instrument is still accessible. A familiar exit path is especially important with a fixed mount or a reflected presentation.
Quick reference
| Item | Meaning | Keep in mind |
|---|---|---|
| Handlebar mode | Directly readable numerals | Use for an appropriate non-reflected setup |
| Mirrored mode | Reversed presentation on the phone | Check the actual reflection while stationary |
| Burn-in protection | Dimming and a slight periodic layout shift | A mitigation rather than a panel-life guarantee |
