Separate an intentional pause from ordinary stopped time.

Compare the right things

A Waymark trip is a recording session with a start and end, accumulated distance, moving and stopped time, a maximum speed and a vehicle profile. It is not a stored line of route points. Trip distance is the main instrument reading; speed remains available beside it. An unfinished session and a saved trip are different states, so the final save is an important part of the workflow.

Read distance and timing together rather than judging a session from one number. Moving average excludes stopped time by default; the alternative average includes it. A pause you chose, an automatic pause and a GPS interruption have different causes. Note which occurred when comparing two sessions, especially if one journey included long stops or a period away from the app.

A like-for-like workflow

A manually paused interval should not be mistaken for uninterrupted recording.

  • Stop somewhere appropriate
  • Use Pause
  • Use Resume when the break ends

Interpret the difference

A rider takes a long stop between two sections. This is an illustrative scenario, not measured field-test evidence.

Choose the profile before starting and confirm the units. The recorder accepts usable location fixes, filters implausible movement and avoids inventing a distance across an unusable gap. Keep Waymark in the foreground during recording. If you leave the app or stop location access, a complete background travel log should not be expected from this release.
