The field task
For a first outing, choose a familiar short journey and review the saved record when you have stopped. Use a clear label that distinguishes the session from later experiments. The aim is to learn the workflow, not to prove a particular accuracy number. If something is unexpected, keep the context and settings alongside your observation so you can repeat the same check.
Waymark is a phone instrument for trip distance, GPS speed and returning to places you saved. The app separates a live reading from a recorded trip: opening the main screen can show an available speed reading, while pressing Start begins a trip. Saved records belong to this installation. There is no account to create, cloud dashboard to configure or subscription to activate.
A repeatable sequence
Signing into the phone does not create Waymark cloud synchronisation.
- Inspect the second installation
- Create a clearly labelled test record
- Export records you need to keep separately
After the session
Two devices are used for separate outings. This is an illustrative scenario, not measured field-test evidence.
A successful first setup is one you can explain afterward. You should know what starts a trip, how to stop and save it, where the resulting record appears, and what to do when location is unavailable. You do not need to test every setting at once. Change one preference, return to the instrument and check the result before changing another.
Quick reference
| Item | Meaning | Keep in mind |
|---|---|---|
| Live instrument | Current speed when a usable fix exists | Does not by itself create a completed trip |
| Trip session | Start, pause, stop and save | Review the completed record in Trips |
| Place bookmark | Named coordinate with capture context | Use Places and then Find It Back |
