The field task
When you stop, save the session and open its trip detail before exporting or deleting anything. Check the date, duration, vehicle and label. A saved summary helps you remember an outing, but it is not proof that every metre was observed. Keep your own context for interruptions, and use an appropriate independent record when a measurement has formal consequences.
A Waymark trip is a recording session with a start and end, accumulated distance, moving and stopped time, a maximum speed and a vehicle profile. It is not a stored line of route points. Trip distance is the main instrument reading; speed remains available beside it. An unfinished session and a saved trip are different states, so the final save is an important part of the workflow.
A repeatable sequence
Automatic pause is a recorder state, not evidence that location permission disappeared.
- Read the pause state
- Note the duration of the stop
- Resume normal movement without guessing why the state changed
After the session
A long rest occurs during an active session. This is an illustrative scenario, not measured field-test evidence.
Read distance and timing together rather than judging a session from one number. Moving average excludes stopped time by default; the alternative average includes it. A pause you chose, an automatic pause and a GPS interruption have different causes. Note which occurred when comparing two sessions, especially if one journey included long stops or a period away from the app.
Quick reference
| Item | Meaning | Keep in mind |
|---|---|---|
| Moving time | Time counted as moving | Used by the moving-only average |
| Stopped time | Time counted as stopped | Relevant to the overall average |
| Saved distance | Accumulated accepted movement | Does not include invented distance across an unusable gap |
